Verizon and T-Mobile customers in Cumberland County and Fayetteville experienced disruptions to their cellular and internet services Wednesday, which service providers said they were working quickly to resolve.
“We are aware that some customers in your service area may be experiencing issues and our network teams are investigating this,” a Verizon customer service representative said. “In the meantime, we recommend connecting to a secure Wi-Fi connection and using Wi-Fi Calling to stay connected.”
The representative said she had not received details about the cause of the outage.
Residents took to social media to report the disruptions on Wednesday afternoon.

“Anyone else in #faync experiencing outages on their Verizon phones?” one resident tweeted, garnering at least eight replies mentioning similar issues.
“We expect service to be back to 100% shortly,” said a T-Mobile customer service representative. “While we don’t have any additional details at this time, we are working to get things up and running as soon as possible.”
Downdetector, a website that collects anonymous reports of service outages, noted reported outages in Fayetteville for T-Mobile, Verizon and Metronet Wednesday night.
The outages were first reported around 4:30 p.m. and by 6 p.m. they appeared to have been resolved.
