IIf a new tablet, phone, or computer was under the tree this year, you can turn your old technology into a new opportunity for a local family.

The Kuauli Digital Opportunities Initiative was launched in April 2020 to help local families stay in touch and float as life takes place at a distance. Volunteers collected and distributed 300 refurbished desktops to residents of Waimānalo as well as Lānai, Moloka’i, Maui and the Big Island. Now, KDOI is launching its Hardware for the Holidays campaign, accepting donations until January 31, 2021.

The group accepts all work:

  • Computers
  • Desktop computers
  • Laptop
  • Waiters
  • Computer screens
  • Keyboards
  • Cords
  • Cables
  • Computer mouse
  • Flat screen televisions
  • Mobile phones
  • Hot spots
  • Tablets

KDOI cannot accept non-functional technology, monitors with cracked screens, printers, or battery backups. The association is also looking for volunteers on all the islands to help with various tasks, including testing and repairing computers, cleaning rooms, organizing inventory, or picking up and delivering donations.

To donate materials, contact Hawaiian Hope by calling (808) 352-8800 or email [email protected].
